Self-storage Insurance at LOADS

At LOADS, your stored goods are not automatically insured. It is mandatory to insure your belongings during the rental period. You can arrange this yourself or conveniently choose a suitable insurance plan via our booking system. Select your preferred coverage level and store your items with peace of mind.

Why insure your belongings during storage?

Self-storage is secure, but unexpected events like fire, burglary, or water damage can still occur. That’s why it’s mandatory to insure your stored belongings. You can arrange your own insurance, or choose our additional insurance when renting your storage unit.

Our insurance covers damage or loss due to fire, storm, leakage, and burglary (with visible signs of forced entry). This ensures financial protection in case of damage.

What does LOADS storage insurance cover?

The insurance offered by LOADS covers damage or loss resulting from the following events:

  • Fire and smoke damage
  • Lightning strike
  • Explosion
  • Storm damage (wind force 7 or higher)
  • Water damage from leaks or burst pipes
  • Burglary (only with visible forced entry)
  • Vandalism following a break-in
  • Damage caused by aircraft

What is not covered?

The following situations or items are excluded from coverage:

  • Damage caused by intent or gross negligence of the renter
  • Damage from war, riots, or natural disasters
  • Indirect damage, such as loss of income
  • Theft without visible signs of forced entry
  • Damage to excluded items such as:
    • Cash, securities, jewelry, art, or collectibles
    • Explosives, flammable materials, weapons, or illegal goods
    • Live animals or plants
    • Food or perishable goods

What coverage levels are available?

At LOADS, you can choose from five fixed coverage levels:

  • Up to €2,500
  • Up to €5,000
  • Up to €10,000
  • Up to €20,000
  • Up to €30,000

The monthly premium depends on the chosen coverage level and is added automatically to your rental invoice.

Insurance terms and conditions

  • Insurance is valid only while the rental agreement is active and payments are up to date
  • The insurance is personal and non-transferable
  • In case of damage: report it to the site manager within 48 hours
  • A deductible of €100 applies per incident

What to do in case of damage or loss?

  1. Report the incident to the location manager within 48 hours
  2. Provide photos of the damage
  3. File a police report in case of theft or burglary
  4. Complete a claim form (available from the site manager)
